Complicated Harvest schedule

Rhubarb and Asparagus available now

We will have a few strawberries to pick mid may, but the good picking won’t happen til beginning of June.

We were on target for the earliest start to Strawberry season in many years, then the weather changed. The warm winter rushed the start of the growing season. As farmers we don’t worry so much about the warm, its the cold that sometimes follows that does the damage.

The dark centers of the strawberry blossoms pictured above indicate fruit that will never develop, having been killed by cold frost. The good news is this has happened early enough that more buds may have time to open and develop.

Interestingly some of the very early blossoms missed the frost damage. Hence we will have some very early berries then very limited availability and finally end very strong the beginning of June.

It will be a short season and if nice weather prevails the first two weekends in June will reward us with sweet juicy strawberries to pick!

Pick Your Own Begins in May

Strawberry blossoms abound in the 10 fields we will have available to our Pick Your Own customers this season. With several varieties ready for harvest at different times we hope the season will last a few weeks. It takes 4 weeks for a blossom to become a strawberry ready for harvest. Picking should start in mid May.

Thanksgiving Week

Place your last minute Thanksgiving pie and roll orders today.

Orders can be picked up Wednesday and Thursday morning. If orders are not placed, pies will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Call 610-269-3494 to place an order.

And Yes, we do have pie pumpkins and apples if your making your own! Local harvest of Broccoli, Cabbage and Cauliflower is also available now.

Snow in October?

 We have apples and pumpkins under our big white tent in front of the store so you can stay dry while making your selection.  What a great day for hot apple cider!

Snow acts as a good insulator for the pumpkins, so don't worry about that but we're anticipating chilly morning temperatures will be hard on them.

There is still a GREAT selection of pumpkins in front of the store. Take your pick and get carving!
